BACH FLOWER REMEDIES
Which Soul Type Are You?
Bach Flower remedies are prescribed to some people who need help on an emotional level. Using the magic of nature’s medicine cabinet, these remedies are blended individually for each person according to Dr Edward Bach's research.
Prescriptions are given as part of a treatment or after a consultation. There are 38 remedies in total, some for acute emotions like panic and some for more chronic and long term feelings like confidence. 12 of the remedies are based on the virtues of Christ and are divided into soul types that we are born to but that does not mean to say we can not improve ourselves and our well-being.
WHICH SOUL TYPE ARE YOU?
Q. Are you impatient but wish you were more forgiving of yourself and others or
Are you restless and would like to feel at peace or
Are you filled with fear and wish you could be fearless and would like to think more of others?
These are just an example of the aspects of character that can be changed. |

SPORTS OR REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Where does it hurt?
Where does it ache?
Why doesn’t it move well?
How can we help?
|
 |
- Break down adhesions in tissues - massage helps to relieve the tension and inflexibility caused by a build-up of scar tissue in soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments. This may be present as a result of past injuries or repeated micro-trauma.
- Increase Tissue Permeability - a deep massage causes the pores in tissue membranes to open, facilitating the exchange of fluids. This improves the removal of waste products such as lactic acid, which builds up during and after vigorous exercise.
- Stretching muscles, tendons and fascia - massage can stretch those tissues that cannot be reached by other means, and also stretch the fascia that surrounds muscle, thus releasing any tension.
- Improve sports performance and endurance - massage can remove the build up of general aches and pains, allowing for an improved sports performance.
- Prevent injuries and loss of joint mobility in potential trouble spots - hands are used to explore the tissues, find problems and deal with them accordingly.
- Enable a faster return to activity after injury - manipulation of the injured tissues will help to prevent adhesions forming, by realigning scar tissue.
- Release of muscle spasms - massage induces a relaxation and desensitization of the muscle spindles that will lead to improved joint mobility, as well as lowering stress levels placed upon the body.
- Extending the overall life of an athletic career - sports massage helps to maintain the entire body in a better physical condition.
- Psychological effects - During the pre-sport massage, when the movements are quick and stimulating, the athlete will experience a feeling of warmth, and feel a readiness to perform. Massage can relieve anxiety before and after an event.

POLARITY THERAPY
Polarity Therapy is a comprehensive health system involving energy-based bodywork, diet, exercise and self-awareness. It works with the Human Energy Field, electromagnetic patterns expressed in mental, emotional and physical experience. In Polarity Therapy, health is viewed as a reflection of the condition of the energy field, and therapeutic methods are designed to balance the field for health benefit.
Polarity Therapy was developed by Randolph Stone, DO, DC, ND (1890-1981), who conducted a thorough investigation of energy in the healing arts over the course of his 60 year medical career. Drawing information from a wide range of sources, he found that the Human Energy Field is affected by touch, diet, movement, sound, attitudes, relationships, life experience, trauma and environmental factors. Since Polarity Therapy lends an energy-based perspective to all these subjects, the scope of Polarity practice is often very broad, with implications for health professionals in many therapeutic disciplines. |
As a result, Polarity has strong, mutually supportive connections to many other holistic health systems.
Basic characteristics of the Human Energy Field are described in many sources, both ancient and modern. For example, the term "Polarity" refers to the universal pulsation of expansion/contraction or repulsion/attraction known as Yang and Yin in Oriental therapies. Similarly, Polarity integrates the "Three Principles and Five Chakras" of Ayurvedic tradition, and has been called the modern manifestation of ancient Hermetic Philosophy. It brings in elements of many ancient healing arts which you may recognise such as shiatsu, acupressure, reflexology, yoga, the movement of chi or Prana, osteopathy, cranial sacral balancing as well as involving modern aspects of counselling like NLP and principles of nutrition to match the body type. At the same time Polarity Therapy also enjoys rich ties to modern science, which has confirmed its essential theme of energetic relationship as the basis of all phenomena.
The Application of Polarity Therapy in the Polarity model, health is experienced when energy systems function in their natural state; energy flows smoothly without significant blockage or fixation. When energy is unbalanced, blocked or fixed due to stress or other factors, pain and disease arise. Blockages generally manifest in sequence from the subtle to the dense levels of the field. Polarity Therapy seeks to find the blockages and release energy to normal flow patterns, and to maintain the Energy Field in an open, flexible condition.
In a typical Polarity Therapy session, the practitioner assesses energetic attributes using palpation, observation and interview methods. Sessions usually take 60-90 minutes, do not require disrobing, and involve both touch and verbal interaction. Touch contact may be light, medium or firm. In the session, the practitioner supports the client in increasing self-awareness of subtle energetic sensations, which are often experienced as tingling, warmth, expansion or wavelike movement. The results of Polarity Therapy sessions vary, and may include profound relaxation, new insight into energetic patterns and their implications, and relief from numerous specific problematic situations.
In the healing arts, Polarity Therapy is special in its comprehensive exploration of multiple dimensions of the human condition, and in its effective bridging of the full spectrum of experience, including body, mind and spirit. Applying the Polarity Therapy system can take diverse forms, always based on the underlying intention to support the client's inherent self-healing intelligence as expressed in its energetic patterns. |

What the future holds
subjects Lesley is currently studying
YOGA THERAPY
Yoga therapy in its present form is a new discipline, created by the marriage of traditional yoga with modern medicine. By tailoring yoga practices to individual needs, whilst taking medical considerations into account, yoga therapy is more effective than general yoga practice as a safe means of treating medical conditions.
Yoga therapy is applicable to a great variety of conditions, including anxiety, low back pain, arthritis, hypertension, heart conditions, hyperventilation, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
Yoga therapy can also promote positive health for pregnancy and childbirth, mothers and babies, children, reproductive health in women and men, and the elderly.
Yoga Therapy cultivates body/mind integration and a sense of harmony with life. It promotes the innate healing resources of the body, helping restore the proper functioning of the various bodily systems.
Medical research provides increasing evidence that yoga therapy is effective.
Yoga therapists are experienced yoga teachers, who have undertaken a further two-year Yoga Therapy Diploma Course with the Yoga Biomedical Trust, which provides grounding in modern medicine and the application of yoga to medical conditions.
Yoga Therapy can be practised in conjunction with any medical treatments you are already receiving, and also in tandem with other complementary therapies. No prior experience of yoga is necessary before starting.
